On 17th April 2017, Institute of Hotel Management organized a National Seminar along with Right to Information Movement. The agenda of the Seminar was Right to Information and Warning of corruption.

IMG-20170418-WA0006The Seminar started with a welcome note given by Dr. Yogendra Shrivastava, followed by the RTI Activist Shri Subhash Chandra Agarwal. He emphasized on the power given to the common man through this act and added that once the man exercises this power corruption could be stopped. He ended his speech by stating that as justice delayed is justice denied similarly information delayed is information denied. Mr. Subhash Chandra is a well-known activist and has filed 6000+ RTI application in the las 12 years and his applications have left an impact on not only the local authorities but also the Supreme Court, the apex court of the country.

Mr. Hiralal Trivedi another speaker explained bot the requirements of the RTI application and warned against the misuse of the power by the common man. Mr. Sukhraaj Singh showed light upon the origin of righto information from Tamil Nadu in 1997 and added that according to a survey Right to Information Act, 2005 of India was among the world’s most used acts, which shows that the people are using their power and congratulated to bring a revolution in the working of the government by showing the power of the common man.

Shri M Shridhar Acharya, a law professor, told about the origin of the right in the Factory’s Act which was enacted way back in 1980’s. He asked the people to take interest in the government policies and only then could the power is given by the Act could be used in the true sense leading the country towards growth. He requested the people to file an RTI application in the same fashion as the trees are planted after a seminar save environment save earth, the consequences of the application, as mentioned by Mr. Shridhar, are that either the question would be answered or will bring a revolution in the country as brought by Shri Subhash Chandra.

The seminar was attended by the faculty of IHM, social activists, and students from various institutions. The guest list also comprised of Mr. A.D. Khan, Mr. Ajay Dubey and Dr. Yogendra Shriastava.
